Frequently Asked Questions
  • Superfast broadband via our network using our fixed wireless technology up to 300Mbps.
  • Ultrafast broadband via our network using our GPON FTTP (Fibre to the Premise) technology up to 900Mbps.
  • Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) via our network using a dedicated fibre connection delivering dedicated synchronous (up and down) internet access up to 1000Mbps.
  • Hardwired MESH Wi-Fi using our latest generation Wi-Fi 6 routers Opus Broadband can build cabled MESH Wi-Fi networks that deliver the full-service speed across the whole property rather than leaving areas with weak or no signal. Opus Broadband engineers will run ethernet cables between the routers as part of the installation.
  • Enterprise Wi-Fi for larger properties such as multi dwelling units (MDU’s) for example a tower block of serviced apartments a larger scale Wi-Fi solution may need to be designed and installed. Opus Broadband can design and deploy a solution using the latest Wi-Fi 6 access points and wireless controllers to deliver user-based Wi-Fi access across even the largest of buildings.
  • Local area network (LAN) design, for larger serviced apartments and commercial developments local area networking (LAN) equipment may be required to connect individual units back to the central communications room, Opus Broadband have the expertise and experience to design, supply and deploy a fit for purpose network using the latest routing and switching equipment.
  • Structured cabling, in new build multi dwelling unit (MDU) or commercial developments cabling from individual units back to a centralised communications room is often required.
  • Communications room design, where a new development requires a centralised communications room Opus Broadband can design and deploy all the relevant equipment that may be required including cabinets, power distribution units and patch panels.

Opus Broadband does not rely on the Openreach network of cables that most suppliers in the UK do. Parts of the Openreach network has been in place since the early 20th century meaning a lot of area have old past dated technology which limits the services available in that area. Opus Broadband have invested in Northwest England and build their own state of the art fibre network, this network allows Opus Broadband to deliver superfast speeds of either 100Mbps or 300Mbps depending on the location.

Do not worry, if you have properties in an area where Opus Broadband’s network is currently not available then we can make use of the Openreach network to deliver broadband to your properties. The only difference will be that the services and speeds at those sites will be limited to what is available on the Openreach network e.g., Fibre to the cabinet FTTC which has a maximum speed of 80Mbps however this will be impacted by distance from the exchange and the quality and condition of the copper into the property.

  • Opus Broadband deliver services over our own fibre network where possible allowing customers to benefit from superfast speeds free of legacy copper infrastructure that is utilised by other providers.
  • Opus Broadband deliver solution not services, some national broadband suppliers are just interested in selling you a broadband connection. At Opus Broadband we will design a solution that is specific to your needs as a landlord, these needs may differ across your portfolio for example the solution for single let properties may be very different to the solution for homes of multiple occupancy (HMO’s).
  • Experts in Wi-Fi, at Opus Broadband we understand the need for good Wi-Fi coverage across your properties to deliver a good quality of service to your tenants. Opus Broadband have a wide selection of products that can be deployed to deliver whole property Wi-Fi from small MESH Wi-Fi systems (20 devices) through to Enterprise Wi-Fi (100+ devices).
  • Designed for Landlords, unlike the national suppliers we have built our landlord offering on what landlord customers have been asking for, this includes portfolio level billing to enable you as a landlord to see all your connected properties on a single bill rather than having separate bills for individual properties.
  • Tenant support, as a landlord you want to keep the broadband at the property under your name to increase the desirability of your property however you do not want to be taking calls from tenants if there is a fault, with Opus Broadbands landlord service tenants can contact us directly to report any faults or issues leaving you more time to concentrate on your core activities.
  • Fully managed service, Opus Broadband can tailor solution support to your needs providing anything from break fix support through to a fully managed service across any services that we deliver.

Opus Broadband provide purpose-built service that is designed to meet your exact needs depending on your property types and uses. Landlords who specialise in single let properties may just need single connections with a single router in the living toom, in this case monthly costs start from £27.00. Landlords who specialise in HMO’s may want multiple routers installed around the property to deliver a high-quality Wi-Fi signal to all tenant’s rooms in this case we will work with you as the landlord to design a service that fits your requirements and budget level.

Opus Broadband understand that as a landlord you would like 100% occupancy across your portfolio however, we also know that this is often not always possible and as such we have developed the service freeze option that allows a landlord to temporally (up to two months in a calendar year) freeze their service if the property is not occupied. This service does not impact your minimum contractual commitment (periods in service freeze do not count towards minimum commitment) and service freeze can only be applied to services delivered over the Opus Broadband network.

Opus Broadband have a in house UK based support desk that can be contacted on 01282 214 000 or by email on cs@opusbroadband.net. Please have your account number at hand when contacting customer support.

Opus Broadband operate a standard engagement framework to ensure that all customer needs are identified and addressed in the final solution.

Once your enquiry has been received you will enter the engage stage, where your enquiry will be allocated to one of our experienced solution consultants. If you have submitted a portfolio list, we will check which properties can be connected to our own network and which properties would have to be connected to one of our partner networks e.g., Openreach. If you have not submitted details of your portfolio with your enquiry this can be discussed on the first engagement.

Your allocated solution consultant will give you a call and document your requirements (needs and wants) for the solution across your property portfolio. Once the requirements have been agreed and we know where your properties are located, we can move into the design stage, in the design your solution consultant will work with subject matter experts across the wider Opus Broadband team to design a solution to meet the requirements that were set forth.

Depending on the complexity of your requirements, an in person meeting and site visit maybe required to ensure all aspects have been explored. If a site visit is required, this will be completed prior to any quote being issued. Once the quote* has been issued your solution consultant will arrange for a review call to ensure that all elements have been clearly explained.

Once the quote has been accepted, the order will move into the survey stage, depending on the complexity of the solution being provided this stage may be skipped (low complexity solution). If a survey is required, this may consist of a remote or onsite sites depending on the solution. Once the survey has been completed your solution consultant will make you aware if there are any scope or price changes required to the original design, if there are any changes these will need to be formally accepted before the order can move to the Build stage.

The build stage consists of ordering any new connection, software or hardware for the project and preparing for the deployment of services.

The deployment stage is where Opus Broadband’s engineers will deploy the agreed solution across the in-scope sites, this may be in a phased approach or a big bang approach depending on what was agreed as part of the design and survey stages.

Once the solution has been deployed and signed off by you, the service will enter the support stage with the customers services team taking on responsibility for the solution and managing any issues, faults or challenges.

*Quotes subject to survey and pricing may change.
